An item reported that France intended to built 350 (surfaced)-480 (submerged) tons submarines using designs of M. Laubeuf. Further more were 10-44 tons submarines designed by engineer Petithomme to be built of which 6 at Cherbourg and the another 4 at Rochefort, France. The submarines to be named Guëpe nos. 1-10 were to be used for defence purposes.
